It was the most perfect autumn day for a walk around the golf course with the geriatrics I managed the entire 18 holes without my shooting stick which I had left behind. I didn’t feel too bad at the time but I must admit that when I got home I was rather exhausted.

I braved the wind and rain today for my weekly geriatric golf walk. I managed 16 holes before my legs started giving out but that was around two and a half hours walking, so not too bad. I kept reasonably dry but what does one do about a soggy kilt? It’s also getting a little […]

A repeat of the Indian Summer days we have enjoyed over the weekend as I walked round the golf course at Worlington. My arms might be giving up but so far my legs are holding out. It seems that I might have been too pessimistic about England’s prospects in the cricket world series in South […]

My 75th birthday today. As it coincided with the Tuesday Geriatrics I did my usual walk round the golf course and bought a kummel or glass of port for those who wanted it. ‘The girls’, at the club, were extremely kind and produced a wedge of chocolate cake with a single candle and a large […]

I had my weekly exercise walking round with the Tuesday geriatrics today. As usual great fun and a reasonable lunch.

Regular geriatric golf day. Managed to walk round most of the way with it using my shooting stick seat. Lots of fun as usual. This weekly excursion has the merit of taking my mind away from my disability for at least a few hours.
14 July 2009
Despite the late night in Cambridge I managed the early start necessary for me to get a lift to the golf club for my weekly walk around with the geriatrics. My legs are still working reasonably well, if somewhat more leaden than they used to be. I cannot say the same about my hands and […]
22 June 2009
Another beautiful summer’s day and walk around at the geriatric golf meeting. I managed the 18 holes with regular rests on my shooting stick.
15 June 2009
An early morning start for another geriatric golf day. I managed to walk the course without too much difficulty. Too chilly for the kilt. In any event it looked like rain so how to protect against a soggy skirt?
2 June 2009
A red letter day, or rather a red kilt day. I gave it an airing (literally!!) for the first time at the golf club today. It did cause a bit of a stir, when I first appeared and I invited them all to have a good laugh but, to be honest, they were all absolutely […]
