The agony of the fourth Ashes test finished, earlier this afternoon, with an ignominious defeat for England – an innings and 80 runs. England having been all out for 102 in the first inning, Australia’s 445 was clearly an impossible mountain to climb. England’s collapse again in the second innings was ominous until a magnificent partnership of 108 between Broad and Swann saved a modicum of English pride. It now all depends on the final test at the Oval in 10 days time.

Hello Mark. No doubt you are celebrating yesterdays win with champagne! Just to say how much I have learnt from your diary entries regarding MND as my husband who was diagnosed in Dec 2006, seems to be progressing in a similar way to you, regarding loss of use of hands, arms etc but still walking around quite confidently. However, he has problems with memory loss and social interactions so reading your thoughts and problems gives me some insight into what he may be feeling and thinking. I have told our three sons to log on and read too. Hope you enjoy your holiday in Cornwall. Paula.
