The Inner Temple dining hall has always been my favourite, although I am still a student member of Lincolns Inn (I should think possibly the oldest). I used to enjoy lunching at the various Chambers as a member of one you were entitled to dine in any of the others. I remember taking my dear mother-in-law there on one occasion and she was so impressed that she insisted on meeting the chef. They were not used to such approbation that they all came out and lined up in a row and my dear mother-in-law went down the line shaking their hands and speaking to each of them in the manner of the Queen Mother. I think they were tickled pink.
Another joke for you, not particularly funny except perhaps to golfers!
